» sealmeat - I am Native with no training or reading on the subject
I am native american, native to be exact. I have a relative who works at a medical center as a Traditional Healer. In October, and since then, I have healed dozens of friends and family. Both on the phone and in personal, they were physical, as well as mental.
I don't want to pursue talking with my family regarding this because first of all, some of them don't believe in shamens (which are in my family) and the other part just think I am trying to get attention. the other part believe me because I have helped them and at the time, they felt dumbstruck.
I don't know why this came so late in my life. That is why relatives questions me.
I always wanted a gift. So many of my cousins have had gifts, and I felt left out. Now that I have one, I wish my hands woundn't start getting warm and vibrating, and my head fealing dread or so exhuburant with happiness... I don't know how to deal with this.
I know that I should not say a thing, that is because that is the native way to deal with it... We do not assume any publicity, especially when it comes to native shamen. That is a private thing, keep it in the family.
I just wish to talk to someone outside of the family at the moment.

- I am Native with no training...
I can only imagine how challenging it must be to be confronted with healing gifts later in life, without any training in how to use them, but it sounds like you are doing all the right things. You are helping people, and your confidence and comfort with your new skills will only improve with time and experience.
I know two Native healers who I have worked with in the past who might be helpful to you - in answering your questions, if nothing else - and I'd be happy to refer you to them if you email me (click on my name and then use the "contact me" form to send me a private message. I'll email you with their contact info). If you feel comfortable telling me where you live, I might be able to locate someone near you.
Otherwise, I would suggest that you take the plunge and try talking with one of the Native shamans in your area. If that is too difficult, a reiki practitioner or someone who does another form of energy work might also be able to advise you or instruct you - maybe not in Native techniques, but in other hands-on energy techniques similar to what you are doing.
I hope this is helpful.
Best wishes,
~Victoria
