The only way to really know that your source of essential oils is a good one is to ask. Talk to people who use essential oils about how they source theirs; talk to your supplier; talk to the people growing the herbs and processing them to make the essential oil.

Virtually every company on the market today claims to be selling "the best quality aromatherapy oils" or essential oils that are "100% pure and organic" - but this isn't always the case. Labeling can be misleading. Manufacturers can claim to be selling "100% pure organic essential oil" if at least 1% of the contents of the bottle are organic EOs - and how an oil has been processed is just as important as whether it is organic.

A really good essential oil is one that has been grown organically, and pressed on site (where it is grown) at low temperatures and without chemical solvents or other additives.

Therapeutic-grade oils - the only ones I recommend - are so pure that they are safe to use internally, as well as on your body and by inhaling the fragrance. This is not true of most oils that you'll find for sale in stores (many, in fact, carry warnings against ingesting them or using them on your skin - that's one way to tell that they are not pure).
