Natural MedicineCornstarch Baby Powder
« Previous 1 2 3 Next » » babygurl07 - Help I am 17yrs old and I just recently started eating baby powder maybe about 2 or 3 months ago. Not Johnson & Johnson because i dont really like the taste but the Walgreens brand with Vitamin E, Aloe, and also pure cornstarch. It's good to know i'm not alone but I cant stop! I sit at school and look forward to coming home just for the baby powder. I'm not pregnant(at least i dont think so) and I dont think i'm anemic so what should I do? -- posted by babygurl07

You might want to look back to when you began eating the baby powder (since it was so recent) and figure out what was happening at that time and why you started. What craving or need does it fulfill for you? Then, try to find something harmless or, better yet, something that is GOOD for you that you enjoy doing, and use it to replace that addiction to the baby powder. Do you enjoy reading? Playing video games? Do you have a journal you write in? Play sports? Any of these things can become an addiction too, but they are at least good for you in moderation (unlike the cornstarch powder). Can you use one of these positive habits, or another of your own devising, to wean yourself off of eating the powder? I also recommend speaking to a parent, teacher or counsellor if you have someone nearby that you can talk to. You may be slightly anemic or have other mineral deficiencies that aren't apparent, so it's worth seeing a nutritionist if you can and getting that checked, too. Best of luck! I hope that some of my advice to others (above) can help you, too! The greatest help for you and others with this addiction can be found in talking to someone - a counsellor, therapist, holistic nutritionist - who will be supportive and help you to change the habit, while reminding you that there's nothing wrong with you for having this kind of problem and that you're not alone in solving it. I hope that some of the advice above can be helpful to you. It is an addiction, which is why your mother started smoking to replace it - you need to work on the root of the addictive behaviour, or else you will only tranfer the addiction to a different form of substance abuse. Best wishes, » Cravingthesame - Cornstarch...ME TOO!! I am not too sure what to believe about my desire for cornstarch. I haven't started eating yet but I am really close. I have had this craving all of a sudden for cornstarch..I like to smell it...sprinkle it on my face. Sometimes I will just shake the bottle, let the powder fumes come out, and then I get this little tasty of a chalky like substance in my mouth. I ABSOLUTELY love it!! And this is my first time ever craving a non food substance. I also noticed something was wrong because we were having painting done at my office and I stayed late just to smell the walls. I ended up with paint on my face and I was okay with that! Part of me believes the iron thing because I know that I am severly anemic and I just recently had surgery on the issue that has caused me to become anemic. I am glad to hear that I am not alone..I thought I was losing my mind. I have heard of Pica but I didn't know that a person's body could want something so bad! -- posted by Cravingthesame » franchie21 - Eating powder I am 21 years old. I suddenly started eating powder myself for whatever reason I don't know. I like the pure baby powder. Those wihtout the fragrance. Those with the fragrance taste funny and I dont like them. While I am at work I always think about eating powder. What is wrong with me and what effects does powder has on the body especially those with talc or cornstarch. -- posted by franchie21 » LadyLove16 - I eat baby powder can after can!
