- Help
hi babygurl07,
You might want to look back to when you began eating the baby powder (since it was so recent) and figure out what was happening at that time and why you started. What craving or need does it fulfill for you?
Then, try to find something harmless or, better yet, something that is GOOD for you that you enjoy doing, and use it to replace that addiction to the baby powder. Do you enjoy reading? Playing video games? Do you have a journal you write in? Play sports? Any of these things can become an addiction too, but they are at least good for you in moderation (unlike the cornstarch powder). Can you use one of these positive habits, or another of your own devising, to wean yourself off of eating the powder?
I also recommend speaking to a parent, teacher or counsellor if you have someone nearby that you can talk to. You may be slightly anemic or have other mineral deficiencies that aren't apparent, so it's worth seeing a nutritionist if you can and getting that checked, too.
Best of luck!
Blessings,

Hello, babygurl104. I understand everything you are saying. Each and everyday, I want more and more baby power. I also, dont like the taste of Johnson baby power, but love Walgreens. I am starting to take my B12 shots more and vitamins, to see if these will stop me from this addiction. Eating power makes me feel so relax and calm. My only worry is, will this effect my body. Will I start to get sick or posion my blood. You are not alone, I will keep you updated on my health and findings. Be safe and you are in prayers!

Hi I've been addictied to eating cornstarch for as long as I can remember. It started when I was a child licking Johnson & Johnsons baby powder off my arms and has progressed to a box of Argo corn starch a week. I will say, that its better than the year I was consuming two boxes a week. I have to quit but the need is overwhelming. Corn starch comforts me,I crave the texture. It neutralizes my taste buds and leaves my mouth with a clean emty feel, no after taste. My family and friends redicule me and I fear that my insides are turning into a concrete block. How do I stop this terrible addiction.

Dear dhriggs,
I hope that some of my advice to others (above) can help you, too! The greatest help for you and others with this addiction can be found in talking to someone - a counsellor, therapist, holistic nutritionist - who will be supportive and help you to change the habit, while reminding you that there's nothing wrong with you for having this kind of problem and that you're not alone in solving it.
Wishing you the best,

I fell so much better knowing i'm not the only one who crave corn starch. I will eat baby powder if it 100% corn starcha nd argo brand is not available. My mom use to eat it when she stop she started to smoke. I don't really want to sop because i'm afraid I might start doing drug or drinking. Like many of the others said it does calm my nerves and relaxes me also. I eat a box a day but I do notice if I eat some real food I want crave it as much.I Knew I had a problem when because I take it everywhere with me,even the movies theater.

Hi cornstarch,
I hope that some of the advice above can be helpful to you. It is an addiction, which is why your mother started smoking to replace it - you need to work on the root of the addictive behaviour, or else you will only tranfer the addiction to a different form of substance abuse.
Best wishes,
