We all have parts of our bodies that feel it when we're tired or under strain.
When I'm stressed or I'm feeling frustrated with my life and the people around me; when it feels like the world is piling up with tedious things to do and it's "too much to stomach"; I get stomachaches. Less so now that I'm on a 70% raw foods diet and I'm using techniques from energy medicine to balance myself daily, but I still recognize my digestive system as a vulnerable spot.
Another weakness is my neck and back. Around the same time the stomachaches started, I used to experience a lot of back pain. None of the approaches or healers I worked with were able to relieve the tension in my back for more than a few days. As I discovered myself and my path, and became happier with my life, the bulk of that pain and tension went away... but my back remains sensitive. When I'm tired and lonely, and I'm not sure which direction to turn, my neck and back get stiff, tight and wired.
The opposite is true when I feel happy. I was walking home today when I felt a profound sense of joy and gratitude for my life and my place in the world. The knapsack on my back felt lighter as my body relaxed. I felt complete, totally comfortable within myself, balanced in my body and as who I am.
