Natural insect repellent

Ingredients such as citronella, pine, rosemary, lemon, cypress, and more are known to repel insects and act as potent aids for healing bites. One of my favourite recipes for insect repellent is as follows:

Excerpted from the Essential Oils Desk Reference, Essential Science Publishing (ESP), Second Printing, 2002

Blend the following essential oils with about 1 tbsp. pure Almond Oil:

6 drops peppermint (Mentha piperita)

6 drops melaleuca or tea tree oil* (Melaleuca alternifolia)

9 drops eucalyptus (Eucalyptus radiata)

Apply as desired!

*If they're calling it "tea tree oil," it usually isn't pure melaleuca or of a very high quality. Please check your sources of oils extremely carefully before using therapeutically. Feel free to email me with any questions about quality of a given essential oil or brand.
