What is the Life Color?
Nancy Ann Tappe, a pioneer in the study of “life colours,” is known for her groundbreaking 1986 publication, Understanding Your Life Through Colour. Tappe’s book is thought to be the first source to discuss indigo, the newest aura color.
In Understanding Your Life Through Colour, Tappe describes the life color as, “the single color of the aura that remains constant in most people from the cradle to the grave.... The life color establishes a focus for the entire lifetime, similar to having a major in college” (Tappe, 1986).
Life Colors
The following presents a summary of characteristics and preferences of each of the common life colors, as presented by Pamela Oslie in her book, Life Colors: What the Colors in Your Aura Reveal.
Most people have one or two predominant colors that represent the life purpose in their energy field.
Red - physical, sexual, courage, live in the present, concrete reality
Yellow - energetic, fun-loving, playful, optimistic, may be shy or outgoing, believe life is supposed to be fun
Tan - logical, sequential, thoughtful, crave stability; the four types of Tan personalities are Abstract, Environmental, Logical and Sensitive
Green - bright, ambitious, quick thinkers, bored with details, competitive; two types of Green may be good with money, the environment, or both
Blue - lovers, sensitive, nurturing, expressive, relationship-focused, emotional, often teachers or nurses
Violet - visionary healers, concerned about others, desire to “heal the world”, feeling of destiny and purpose; very common in spiritual, new age and healing circles
Indigo - rebel, intuitive, insightful, assertive, psychic sight, “old souls”, teach by example, combination of violet and blue
Crystal - natural healers, physically very sensitive, easy to overwhelm, get along with everyone because their clear aura may take on the qualities of people they are near
Each life color has its own challenges, “assets” and “liabilities” that predispose a person to act, think and create their life in particular ways.
Yet as Lee Carroll and Jan Tober observe in The Indigo Children (Carroll and Tober, 1999), aura colors are simply another system of categorization. Like astrology, IQ tests, and personality testing like the Myers-Briggs, aura colors explain certain important factors in the personality, yet people are individuals. While aura colors can reveal fascinating insights and empower our choices and understanding of ourselves, the rest is up to you.

hi im 12 and i an see auras. when i was learning i got results rather
quickly. now i can see a thick pale but bright yellow band around my head.
im frustrated because ive been able to see this part of my aura for a long
time but i think i should be able to see a little more of my aura by now,
especially since i can easily see my "guides" orbs around me.
however i can see the other energy around me (like thin white lines moving)
but its clear. now im wondering if i could have a crystalline aura. do i
have a crystal aura or do i just need to practice more so i can see the
colors?

My possible Indigo-aura dilemma.
This, you
might believe, came to my interest by a book or a little story or show, as,
it seems, this is a popular topic to be touched upon.
Sad for
you, I'm spanish so I do not see this subject very much between my classes
or my peers.
No, my father informed me to this, a whole hour and
a half it took, or even more, and let's say it made my emotions burst quite
a bit. Only, he said this in a spanish for, so I got 'Indiga' instead of
'Indigo'.
And Indiga for me sounded a bit native, since Indiga,
to me at the time, was a play on 'Indigena' in which means 'Native' or to
be of origin of, so you can see being pressed and told I was one for that
period of time was nerve racking, made me cry to myself quite a bit.
But, now, I have adopted it.
My names consist of this
name here on the internet, as I see why my life has been like it is.
But, tell you the truth, if a Indigo foresakes certain views, then
I have in the way I'm normally charactiriez by.
Let me tell you,
yes, that I am slightly spoiled, as many say we act as royalty, but to a
point, I am not pressing in things I want, if you don't give it to me,
sure, I'll let you, that doesn't MEAN I'll get it myself thought.
Yes, I am a loner, but not at my choice, it was never my choice, as
everyone foresouk my kindness and my words, and for that, I no longer try
to find friendship in the school I have lived my whole bizzarre childhood
in.
I am honest, I am modest, I am kind. Because, as I've told
myself many times, I am too nice, even to those I dislike, I do things
because I find it my duty to do so, but not in the way many would

No, everything you may tell of a Indigo, to a point,
it's true, but we don't just sit there to be characterized by, no, we break

I am an Indigo Child, I am quite sure of that. I have issues with
depression and anti-socialism. But I'm not sure of one thing... Can there
be an Indigo-Crystal Child or something? Because I seem to have
characteristics of both, but mostly Indigo. Maybe an Indigo usually has
some traits of a Crystal... I don't know. I am thirteen and am more
intelligent than my friends. I've been that way for awhile. I love to sing,
act, and draw and stuff. I learn better in pictures rather than spoken
words; things that I can see help me learn. I can't see auras, however. I
am greatly interested in spirits and religion, though I am not religious
myself. I have made contact with at least five ghosts. I have one in my
house right now. He's upstairs, though. He likes to watch over my little

auras that I know of. A good friend of mine sees colors around individuals.
Single colors per person. He sees fuschia around me. However, you mention
nothing of any type of pink. Which makes me wonder about the accuracy of
the information presented on this page.

kindness to inanimate objects... I seem to have developed qualities from

I am everything they say a indigo child can be like. I am 13 and
coincidently I love the color. I always had plans for breaking down the
systems and have alway been the outcast of my school because of my
creative, spiritual, and loving thoughts to change the systems. But
strangely every discription of indigo fits me antisocal, creative,

Hello. I am 15 years old, and have done much research in the field of
auras. I have spoken directly to Pamala Oslie, the author of Life Colors,
and Love Colors. Oslie agrees with Tappe on almost all of this information,
although, since Oslie is in the field currently, she may have been exposed
to more modern occurances among aura research. Oslie, with her incredible
psychic abilities, has noticed that all people have either 1 or 2 bands of
color which are closest to their body. These 1 or 2 bands are known as
their Life Colors, these bands will typically not change throughout a
lifetime, and define the essence, spirit, and personality of the subject.
Still, the aura of all people will contain outerband, some of which are
consistant, lasting for years, which greatly impact the pesonality, and
will often be mistaken for the Life Colors. However, people will also have
far outerbands, which can change frequently, depending on a persons current
mood or situation. Also, Oslie sees one alternate Life Color, which Tappe
apperantly did not. This Color is Lavender. Lavenders are dreaming,
drifting, mystical, spiritual, innocent, sensitive intuitive, eteric,
childish, fantasizing, psychic, enigmatic souls. On the downside, Lavenders
can also be lazy, inconsistant, unreliable, unfocused, irrational, lost,
confused, procrastination, antisocial children, lacking in ambition and
motivation. I have spoken with Pamala Oslie, and she has told me that I am
a Lavender/Yellow, with Indigo, Crystal, Tan, Violet, with a red over-lay.
The red over-lay is not a red life color. It is a protective sheild of a
band, which if not properly removed, will cause rage and struggle, after it
is not needed. The red-overlay is typically added as a result of some need
for protection from a troublesome, abusive, or traumatic experience in
childhood. For anyone with interest in auras or self-discovery, I strongly
recoment purchasing Oslie's books Life Colors and Love Colors. Along with a
book by Barbara Bowers, called What Color Is Your Aura. Pamala Oslie also
has a website called auracolors.com These publications are extremely
helpful and insightful. I hope that this information will help some of you

Hello. I'm 13 years old. I'm very interested in spirits, aura, and
anything else out of this world. I'm not sure, but I think when I was
younger, I could see aura. I thought that everyone could see the colors
around themselves, So I never said anything about it, not even my parents.
I love the idea of spirits and religon, but I have a major ghost phobia.
I'm not sure if I had a traumatic event with one when I was younger or not.
No matter how much I try, I can't seem to get the courage to try to
communicate with one. I'm terrified of the dark, and I don't know why. I
just can't stand the dark. But it interests me to no extent. I'm also
very sensitive emotionally and I always keep my head down when going
places. I have a hard time opening up to people and I constantly avoid
making eye contact. I'm very good at reading peoples emotions though, but
it seems I've lost my touch when it comes to spiritual abilities. I
certainly wish I could tune in once more, but eventually this world
withered it away again. I atleast wanted to keep my ability to predict what
was going to play on the radio next.

think I lost my abilities around the age of 8 or 9.

Hello i am 16 years old and i have been able to see auras since the age of
seven when my grandfather had died. at first i was only able to see a light
haze over a person but since i started going through adolesence my
perception has increaced an now i can clearly see the ways that the
tendrils of energy of peoples auras intiract with others when the people
first meet talk for longer periods of time and when they are inquiring
about things. But i do have a mentor who has helped me understand what has
been happening. his mother and grandmother were both celtic preistesses of
the few remaining pure factions in the americas. my inner and most dominant
aural color is blue but i also inheret the violet and a small amount of
green from my mother's behavior. Just thought that i would share....

Hi, My parents say im an indigo and i still can't see an aura.I have
been told I was an indigo since I was seven years old and i have been doing
research.I still can't see an aura.Isn't there a special school for people

an indigo I disagree that such people have been here only to prepare the

hi im sara and im 13.....i have always had this horrible habit....When im
in a room filled with kids my age and adults i always seem to fall in to a
crowd of adults and i dont no if thats bad or what but thats what happenss
and they always seem to be angry with me because im always with them having
adult conversation with them about politics and problemss with their grown
up relationship far as like trying to fix them.....and if someone gets into

Hi, I'm turning 15 soon. I've been told that I was an Indigo child so I
decided to see what it meant. I guess I am emotional and caring to people.
I've done a bit of healing and can sense where the pain is without the
person telling me. I always seem to blend in with everyone, I most
definately can adapt to others no matter the person. My best interest
would be crystals, rocks, anything shiny and unusual grasps my
attention. I have never seen my aura.

my name is Brittany. i am 21. im an INDIGO. i am different sensitive
Artistic Creative.. i don't really think so much about the paranormal
part but Everything else i seem to be. i guess i can say ive had like
phycic experiences i had all kinda of dreams/visions that i wouldn't
explain. ive always been able to sense lies and manipulators from a
mile away. not EVER giving into guilt punishments... i was diagnosed
with all kinds of learning disablitys(in special ed classes) and was VERY
sensitive to my surroundings growing up. sense i very much lacked the love
and affection that indigo's need so much to grow to the capacity they are
fully capable. so often i turn inwards. depression, often finding it
pointless to talk to people who are total conformists. never belonging with
any group but relating and talking to everyone. wondering around alone most
of the time. getting D's and F's in school altho later i was discovered to
be a 'creative genius'... i don't appreciate(function in the) the
conformist structures, such as religion, school, work and government...and
THEY don't APPRECIATE ME When i was 7 i was lost in a carnival/fare
and a palm reader picked me outta the crowd because my aura was SO bright
and blue as he said. he called me a baby blue soul. he read my palm and
became very disturbed when he noticed my life line. he said i would be
re-born half way through my life. when i was 18 i died. had kidney
failure. doctors expect me to maybe have 15 healthyish years left. i am
type 1 diabetic. everyone called me a hypochondriac growing up because i
was so smart they thought i couldn't really be constantly sick then
perfectly fine another moment. i have seen the 'light' and i KNOW i am
right!!! i know i am power and energy! i create and need to constantly
explore... im a huge insominiack, i cant seem to turn my brain off. with my
feelings towards the world and ALL of the people i have personally changed
and inspired. they and those people have gone on to do the same! its the

that EVERYONE id ever meet would be changed forever because of me. there is

i am 16 and i too can see auras. i find it very interesting. i can see a
sort of glow around people. this "light" glows stronger with
people i know. i have a orange glow. so does my father, and my brother is
indigo. i took about 5 years to concentrate and push myself to see auras

Hello to everybody: What I really think is, that the most important it
is not what color of aura we have but how we use it! If all of us we focus
in ourselves and try to empower ours instics, it doesn´t matter in which

I can see spirits but not auras but i can feel when something is wrong or
when there is danger or something is not right. I have very vivid dreams a
little to vivid i think more then normal. I can see the future in my dreams
and more then half me life feels like deja vu. When someone looks into my
eyes they seem to do what i ask them to do or i can guess what there
thinking and get their answer or something close. I am very bright..i am in
honors and have been selected by the board of education twice to join more
advanced programs. I am really sensitive and can have a temper.Am i truley
and indigo? Or something close?

Hi im a eye-doctor. If You see an aura then its time to clean Your glasses.
The color of the aura has a meaning in reference of the cleaning solvent.

if the indigo kids are rebels and all the people in our world
tend to minimize the rebel rate... then indigo kids are gonna be

Hi i am 15 years old I am a crystal child and i see auras and different
bands around others so i know if they are good to talk to or not.I see
ghosts and feel energy extremely strong it makes me feel venerable and
scared, i also dream at night whats going to happen the next day so nothing
is ever unexpected but it feels like its all happened before.But the good
part about it is that when ever a teacher asks a question i know the answer
without thinking and know what people are thinking and feeling at the same
time. some people think i am weird and strange because im different in a
way they never thought possible.

I've been able to see auras since I was 10, and I never thought anything of
it. Lately I've been getting more interested in what I can do, and I can
see colours, but they are usually pale - only once have I seen a full-body
red aura without focusing on the person. I almost always have a
white/silver aura, what does that mean?

Hi I am 30. I am more than an age though. I have ALWAYS been told I am too
sensitive. I finish peoples sentences, even those people I don't know. I
was recently in an interview said I was VERY adaptable. Meaning I can be
what I need to be in the moment, I reflect the attitude and gestures easily
of those around me. I recently thought it was because I moved so much as a
child that I had learned how to make friends quickly. It's much more than
this. I've told my husband for the last 5 years or so that I feel I absorb
the feelings of those around me. Most people don't like others because of
things that the other has said or done..I don't like people who overwelm me
with negativity. It feels like I'm dead inside to be around them. I can't
watch the news, it pains my spirit. I feel a persons anxiety, happiness,
joy, sadness, anger, and I become what they need me to be in the moment. I
am a bit of a loner. Because I am "sensitive"(and repeatedly told
so) it is easy for me to be alone, I prefer it. Last night I was
deeply sad and my 7month old daughter woke up(1 am) and I held her. It
wasn't the holding of her that calmed me so much, her eyes were hypnotic,
pure love poured from her like a vessel. It felt so good to be cared for.
She came to me in a dream before she was born. She came to my sister as
well. My sister didn't know I had my dream or vice versa. I know she is
special. My son is intuitive as well to a point. We miscarried. When
my daughter was born he said the miscarriage was because my daughter wasn't
ready to come yet. Who ever reads this know that all I say is true. I feel
different today, I'm realizing I can learn to handle these feelings of
others and use it to my benefit not demise. It will take time but I will
control "my" feelings and not get lost in them. I will get
informed. Thanks

yo i'm 13 and i can also see auras but i only started 2 days ago and i can
see the auras of other people and my aura is like beautiful white and it
seems that i'm like an angel or somthin.

im about to be 14 and i can very well see auras. Some times i think its
weird. "frowns" although there is a great use to it. For me. It
helps on who i should hang out with. But i also help my friends. I also
have this ability to sense who ppl act. live. work. their tempers.
attutudes. or bad things they mite have done. I use this very often.

I am 16 and i can see auras. i can see other peoples auras with out
diffuculty but i cant see my own. all i can see is its outline for mine.
