The imagination is one of the most creative mind powers. We are always creating through imagination, through the power of visualisation. The Power of VisualisationThe power of visualisation is using the power of the imagination to create an image. It is a state of awareness in which we are not thinking about, analysing or figuring out our experiences - but actually experiencing them directly. Research has demonstrated a clear and definitive connection between mind and body. Visualisation is a process of this connection and consistent imagining and experience or outcome encodes the memory or desired result in the brain. Match this process with emotion and you can actually grow brain cells in what is known as neurogenesis. (otherwise known as 'birth of neurones') It goes like this - the point prior to imagining or visualising, there are no brain cells in that specific area. After repeated visualisations you will have created matter where there was none before. Pathways have opened up. Naturally this process can be used for anything BUT in particular, visualising yourself well when you are sick can speed up recovery. A belief in wellness results in healing! Using the PowerOne of the first steps towards improved health is to picture it. Generalities do not heal; they lack substance. Vague hopes and indefinite goals are not convincing to the mind which controls the body. Whereas a clear cut picture of your goal motivates both mind and body in the healing process. Results come much quicker when we picture what we want, rather than just vaguely thinking about it. Picture yourself healthy – doing things you haven’t been able to do. Imagine in your mind how you want to look. Right now, close your eyes and still your mind. Let a picture of what you want formulate. Do you have more energy? Are you thinner, heavier, jogging, walking? Refine this vision until you have the perfect picture. Now take a snapshot of this and use this as a focus. Allow this to become your guiding torch through obstacles. Always visualise as if it's actually happened right now. Make it real in your mind, make it detailed. Enter the role and become it. Make the commitment to use this vision daily- as if it were already created now. Know that every time you visualise your dream you change or reverse in-built programming, which may interfere with your successful achievement. (Scientific research reveals that it takes 21 days to re-program our brain patterns.) Affirm Yourself into Good HealthUsing affirmation in conjunction with visualisation creates a dynamic package in the healing process. To affirm means to make firm. There is very little mystery about how and why affirmations work, once the principle is understood. An affirmation is simply a spoken declaration, in the present tense, which creates a desired reality. Every day we affirm – we self talk – we speak and it manifests. “I am sick, I am tired, I am fed up, He/she/they make me sick, I am going crazy, it makes me sick to the bone, etc” The objective here is to remove negative self-talk – clearly monitor what you affirm – listen to your self-talk. Consciously affirm – what you want. “I am healthy,” “every day I get better and better.” Eliminate affirmations which bring you UN-desired results i.e. “Oh I could be better” and replace it with a positive response, for example a dear friend astounds most with his response to the question “how are you today?” He replies, “I am excellent and getting better.” Health is a dynamic process of being in the present moment and using affirmation and visualisation opens pathways to the healing process.
