Although most people enjoy sunbathing, it does have serious consequences of sun damaged skin and skin cancer. There are some simple ways of reversing these effects.
Skin cancer is on the rise in many western countries. There are easy cost effective treatments that have been kept under wraps for some types of skin cancers. Why the suppression about these treatments? Sadly it is because they represent a loss in income to the establishment that makes a lucrative living on skin cancer treatment. The number one cause of skin damage in the west is from exposure to the sun and use of sunscreens. Skin damage can take the form of thick scaly patches called keratoses, squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma, and melanomas. The first part of this article dealt with the use of sunscreens and their detrimental effects on the body, the second part covers treatments and prevention of skin cancer. The Devil’s AppleDr Bill Cham, a notable scientist at the University of Queensland, Department of Medicine, learned from a veterinary friend about the use of Devil’s Apple and Kangaroo Apple plants used by aborigines to treat eye cancers. He spent the next 10 years creating and testing a cream based on the Devil’s Apple formula, which he called Curaderm. Devil’s Apple (Solanum sodomaeum) is a weed of eastern Australian that produces solasodine glycosides. As the story goes, the cream was immensely successful both in terms of sales and in its effectiveness in treating keratoses and carcinomas. Unfortunately, maybe it was too successful, as it posed a threat to the livelihood of skin cancer surgeons. The Australian dermatological lobby first tried to discredit the use of the cream, and when that failed, it pushed the government to classify it as a prescription medication. Once under their control, they continued their standard practice of treating carcinomas and let the cream stay on the shelf. The story then moved the USA, where Lane Laboratories brought out a similar cream called Skin Answer. They made the mistake of saying what the cream did; treat carcinomas. This is a no-no in the USA and they faced lawsuits over their ads. The cream has persevered though, and is available from Lane Labs as Sunspot ES. Anecdotal information on its effectiveness is very positive. Diet and the Prevention of Skin CancerSlowly in the west there is a dawning of awareness that food is medicine. This has been practiced in the East for thousands of years. Not surprisingly, diet plays a big role in the prevention and treatment of cancer, including skin cancers. Diets rich in anti-oxidants and low in fat seem to be the best protection against cancer. CoQ10, Vitamin C,B, E, lycopene and selenium have all shown effectiveness in dealing with the free radicals that promote skin cancer. Tomatoes Protect Against Skin CancerFruits such as tomatoes, watermelon, red peppers, guava, apricots, papaya, and pink grapefruit will be a source of lycopene. A member of the carotenoid family, lycopene is an amazing anti-oxidant that protects and treats against cancers of the skin, cervix, breast, lungs, prostate, and stomach. If diet is low in these foods, then a supplement can be taken. Viral Cause of Skin CancerResearchers are exploring that skin cancer might be caused by a virus on the skin that then gets triggered by lowered immune system and exposure to radiation from the sun. Although modern medicine is far from developing any treatment to this, certain forms of energy medicine able to work on viruses have shown to be effective. In particular, VortexHealing and BodyTalk work on eliminating viruses. The protocol is to eliminate the virus before skin cancer can develop.
