Raw cabbage juice is a natural stomach ulcer remedy that offers fast relief.

Common foods and seasonings can work well in relieving stomach ulcer pain. Ulcers that occur in the upper area of the digestive tract are known as peptic ulcers. Peptic ulcers are open sores caused by the disintegration of tissue on the lining of the stomach, esophagus, or upper region of the small intestine. Ulcers can cause pain in the abdomen between the breastbone and navel.

Pain from an ulcer can last for a few minutes, or it can continue for hours. Some people have flare ups during the evening. Others will experience stomach ulcer pain for days or weeks at a time. They may also have brief periods where the pain goes away. According to Mayo Clinic, anyone who is experiencing symptoms of an ulcer should get a doctor's advice before starting a treatment plan.

Natural Stomach Relief

Taking red clover is one way to get stomach relief. It neutralizes acid and reduces pain caused by ulcers and indigestion. According to Jude's Herbal Home Remedies (October 2004, Llewellyn Worldwide Ltd) by Jude Todd, it's best to drink one cup of red clover tea before each meal and right before bed at night.

Acupuncture is also showing promise as a treatment to relieve stomach ulcer pain. This involves treating pressure points throughout the body that are associated with gas, stomach problems, anxiety and stress. Alternative Medicine by Burton Goldberg, Larry Trivieri, and John W. Anderson (January 28, 2002, Ten Speed Press) notes a case in which a doctor used acupuncture to treat a patient's ulcers. After two days of acupuncture treatment, the patient no longer needed medication.

Raw cabbage juice is another remedy that is effective in preventing stomach acid reflux, ulcers and other conditions associated with the digestive tract. According to 1,801 Home Remedies by the editors of Reader's Digest (April 2004), participants of a study at Stanford University were cured of their ulcers after drinking cabbage juice for just one week.

Honey as a Stomach Ulcer Remedy

Researchers believe the amino acid glutamine found in cabbage helps strengthen the gastrointestinal tract. To eliminate ulcer symptoms, drink one quart of cabbage daily for at least three weeks. Pineapple is also good for the stomach and can help get rid of ulcers. It contains some of the same healing properties as cabbage.

According to1,801 Home Remedies, some studies suggest that honey can also reduce stomach ulcer pain. Researchers believe that honey inhibits the production of H. pylori, the bacteria that medical experts believe causes ulcers. Patients can add honey to their diets by using honey as a natural sweetener. Use it to sweeten cereal, tea, or toast.
