Anti-aging beauty treatments can be used at any stage of life to prevent or repair damage and wrinkles for vibrant, healthy skin.

Caring for skin and even using anti-aging skin products is important in every stage of life, to keep the skin wrinkle free and youthful as it ages. It is much easier to prevent wrinkles than to fix damage already done.

Obviously, avoid damage whenever possible – keep sun exposure to unprotected skin to a minimum, avoid harsh cleansers that can strip the skin of its natural protections and resiliency, and so on. But there are plenty of anti-aging skin products to make or use as well.

Mature Skin Moisturizer

One of the most important aspects of anti-aging skin care is to properly moisturize the skin well on a regular basis. According to Phyllis A. Balch in Prescription for Herbal Healing, "Herbal treatments cannot stop the aging process, but they can slow it down. Herbal antioxidants in skin creams stop the free-radical processes that destroy collagen. Herbal sources of alpha-hydroxy acids stimulate the production of hyaluronic acid, the body's natural agent for moisturizing and restoring suppleness to the skin."

When creating or looking for a mature skin moisturizer, try to be sure it includes one or more of the following:

  • Aloe Vera - one of the best sources of alpha-hydroxy acids in a natural skin care product
  • Calendula - soothing and protecting, and helps encourage the growth of new skin cells
  • Green or White Tea - powerful antioxidant that prevent free-radical damage; can be used on the skin as well as to drink.
  • Witch Hazel - a gentle natural astringent that helps keep the skin toned

Anti-aging Oil Moisturizers

One of the simplest and perhaps best moisturizers for skin of any age is a simple carrier oil with essential oils added. Hazelnut, sweet almond, and apricot kernel oils are generally the best choice for an anti-aging oil, as they are light, absorb well, as well as being very mildly astringent to keep the skin well-toned, and are gentle enough even for face skin care.

Of the essential oils to choose from, lavender is perhaps the best choice. It has the ability to promote new skin cell growth, and can even significantly repair damage to the skin.

Other rejuvenating essential oils to choose from are:

  • Neroli
  • Rose
  • Myrrh
  • Frankincense
  • Fennel
  • Carrot

Here is a good anti-wrinkle blend for those with young skin, to help keep your skin wrinkle free:

  • 8 drops Geranium
  • 8 drops Neroli
  • 5 drops Lavender
  • 5 drops Fennel
  • 3 drops German Chamomile
  • 1 drop Carrot

And, for a more mature skin care blend, try the following:

  • 10 drops Lavender
  • 10 drops Neroli
  • 10 drops Frankincense
  • 10 drops Fennel
  • 10 drops Carrot
  • 10 drops Evening Primrose (oil, not essential oil)
  • 3 drops Lemon
  • 2 drops Rosemary

Anti-aging Supplements

Proper nutrition to maintain wrinkle, youthful skin cannot be underestimated. Plenty of fresh, antioxidant rich foods are important to include in the diet, as is a good supply of fish for the omega-3 fatty acids. The articles "Vitamins Minerals and Nutrients for Healthy Skin" and "Natural Health 101: Anti aging vitamins for mature skin care" both provide good information on anti-aging supplements to add to an anti-aging beauty regimen.
