Kids diagnosed as autistic, ADD or children having trouble with school or peers may be intuitive or highly sensitive people with indigo or crystal colored life auras.

Indigo and crystal children have been a hot topic of discussion since the 1980’s, when they were first mentioned in Nancy Ann Tappe’s Understanding Your Life Through Colour (1982). New age groups introduced the concept of indigo and crystal life colors to parents, therapists and educators with mixed results. Are indigo children really here to heal the world? Do they all have ADD? Are they psychic? How can I know if I am an indigo? Read on for answers to these questions and more.

What is an Indigo? What is a Crystal?

Indigo and crystal are aura colours that are increasingly common among today’s children. Experts estimate that between 75 and 95% of today’s youth have indigo as their life color, the dominant color present at the deepest levels of the aura.

Nancy Ann Tappe wrote in the second edition of Understanding Your Life Through Colour, “Usually each universal age is accompanied by a preponderance of people with that life color. For instance now most adults are either Blue or Violet, the two colors with the attributes most needed in this the Violet Age of transition. During the next age, the Indigo Age, Indigo colors will be the norm.” (Tappe, 1986)

In The Indigo Children (1999, Carroll and Tober) she is quoted in an interview as saying, “I look at people’s life colors to learn what their mission is here on the Earth plane – what they’re here to learn, what their syllabus is.”

Indigo

Indigo children usher in a new energy that is transforming the planet around us. They are groundbreakers, creative rebels and independent thinkers, people who will go their own route and leave people and things around them changed.

For many, however, it is not an easy path to walk. Indigos are usually interested in healing and spiritual traditions in their search for tools to empower and heal themselves. They are sensitive, intuitive and expressive. Some have psychic abilities while others, whose indigo nature is suppressed, may have violent episodes. Many are troubled by allergies, attention deficit disorder, and emotional problems thanks to physical and energetic pollutants to which they are exposed.

Crystal

Crystals instinctively channel healing energy. Their crystal nature enables them to pick up energy and aura colors from the people around them. They are acutely sensitive and are even more likely to become healers and lightworkers than indigos, but need space to themselves and a lot of care.

Many crystal children are born autistic or die in infancy because they are so remarkably sensitive. It has been suggested that the indigos are here to transform the world to one in which the crystal children can survive and do their work.

The life color of some indigo adults may transition to crystal when they are in their late twenties or older. The children of indigo parents are almost all crystals and indigos.

Indigo Children: “Here to Save the World”

The frustrating propaganda that claims that indigos are here “to heal the world” has been propagated in recent years by well-known healers and spiritualists – most of whom have violet as their life color and feel strongly that their own purpose is to improve life on Earth and to heal.

Every life color has a role in healing and improving the Earth. The indigo wave is here now for a purpose, but that purpose is best summed up as “living our lives our own way.” Change follows in the wake of indigos, but it may or may not be their stated intention.

What’s my Aura Colour?

Multiple choice tests are available on the internet to help diagnose aura colors. One of the most thorough is Pamela Oslie’s based on her book Life Colors. For a summary of auric life colors, read What’s My Aura Color?

Wow! We always knew our family was special, but reading this gives us a clear explanation and validation of what we always felt. It feels good to finally see recognition in the world, not just patronizing disbelief. Thank you for getting the word out there, and please- more, more, more!
