Dust and Animal Allergies

Headaches, Breathing & Sinus Trouble, Fatigue Linked to Dust & Fur

Dust allergies can be alleviated using energy work, essential oils, and cleansing as well as common-sense moves like no broadloom, a good vacuum & no pets in bedrooms.

Dozens of prescription and over-the-counter medications are available to help people deal with the effects of allergies to dust and pet dander. Many asthmatics and allergy sufferers resort to drugs that push allergens deeper into the body, and can cause side effects, while millions more suffer from symptoms like chronic headaches, dry or sore throats, runny nose, and fatigue without knowing that, in many cases, the cause is as simple as an allergy to dust.

The ideal natural treatment for any allergy is to find a way to balance the body and to eliminate the allergy.

Eliminating Allergies with Energy Work

There are several effective techniques to alleviate allergies from the inside using energy work, prayer, and affirmations. The idea behind most of these is to remove the internal problem that causes normal air pollutants – from dust to ragweed to smog – to act as irritants to the respiratory and immune system.

Whether or not energy work is effective in relieving dust allergies, the following natural suggestions may help minimize reactions to dust and dander allergies.

Get Rid of Broadloom Carpets

After several years of use, broadloom carpets more than double their weight thanks to dust, dirt and debris caught between their fibers that can not be removed.

If possible, dust allergen sufferers should never live in a home with broadloom carpeting.

Get Air Vents Checked

Air circulation systems inside homes and other buildings can accumulate dust and pet dander, spewing allergens into the air. These systems need to be professionally cleaned every few years to maintain optimal health.

Buy a High Powered Vacuum Cleaner

A high powered vacuum can make a huge difference in the amount of dust and pet fur that comes out of carpets… and even off of bare floors. Some vacuums are certified by organizations such as the Asthma Society of Canada to not spew dust back into the air via their exhaust streams (as most vacuums do to a greater or lesser degree). These vacuums are ideal for allergy sufferers.

Keep Pets Out of Bedrooms …and Off Furniture

One way to lessen allergic reactions is to keep pets out of bedrooms and off furniture, particularly beds. Any place you spend eight or so hours of each day should be kept allergen-free.

Cleansing the Body to Remove Toxins

Cleansing helps lessen headaches, sinus trouble, and most other allergic reactions because toxins in the body increase sensitivity and weaken the body’s immune system.

Annual or bi-annual cleanses can make a world of difference in helping chronic allergy sufferers to stay active, alert, and healthy.

Essential Oils

Although many people with allergies react to common essential oils, therapeutic-grade essential oils are safe and can be beneficial to those with allergies.

The most common oils for relieving allergy symptoms are lavender and peppermint, rubbed beneath the nose, on the neck and temples, or inhaled from cupped hands.

Pay Attention to Your Body

After making the home environment as allergen-free as possible, the most important step is to pay attention to your body’s signals. If a dusty library or used clothing store makes allergies act up, don’t worry about getting stared at or seeming odd – leave politely but quickly.

More frequent exposure to allergens will make allergic reactions more severe and happen more often. Paying attention and getting out of very dusty or smelly spaces quickly can make a real difference, in the long run, to allergy sufferers.
